All about the visuals: Top Ten Favorite Graphic Novels/Comics or Ten Comics on My TBR or Top Ten Favorite Picture Books

Couldn’t really make a list of 10 but 6 should do! Half of them are series with over 6 volumes, so that can account for the missing 4! Simple math, really 😉

East of West, Vol 2 by Jonathan Hickman
Reindeer Boy by Cassandra Jean
Saga by Brian K Vaughan & Fiona Staples
Locke & Key by Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodríguez
Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
Fight Club 2 by Chuck Palahniuk

Top Ten Tuesday: 17 books in 2017

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. Each week they will post a new Top Ten list  that everyone is welcome to do!

FREEBIE — that super specific list you want to make?? All yours to tackle this week!

I do have a semi-specific TBR list in my drafts but it’s too erratic to share with anyone… But, I think it will be much more fun to do a 17 books to read in 2017! (Counting series as 1)

chaoswalking.jpg

Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness

I’ve actually already started The Knife of Never Letting Go.

Patrick Ness is one of my all-time favourite authors even though I’ve only read a few of his books. He is one of the few authors my family actually discusses because his language is so simple to understand. Having a sister that struggles with dyslexia and a mother that refuses to be diagnosed, I’ve always felt a kind of distance between us because I read so much and they don’t. This author brought us closer together, definitely. I’m forever grateful, even though he has me blocked on twitter (I’ve only tweeted him twice tho wtf).

LOTR8.png

The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy by JRR Tolkien

I’ve been meaning to get to this for such a long time… I have half a mind to put The Knife of Never Letting Go down and pick this up. I’m really in the mood for high fantasy this year (my favourite genre). I recently also received the leather bound copies!

ASoIaF New.jpg

A Song Of Ice And Fire by George RR Martin

I need to fucking reread these books. Sorry for the swearing! But it’s been almost three years since I read them and then had a year gap before I picked up ADWD and was left so confused. My ADWD copy is in hardback while the rest are in paperback. So, with this reread I also want to take the chance to collect the hardbacks.

The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss

In the theme of High Fantasy, here is another one that I need to get to. My heart actually starts beating really fast just thinking about it. I have no idea what it’s about except that it is phenomenal. My friend got me The Name of the Wind for my birthday because she heard it’s great, mind you she doesn’t read at all… Not even the news! So, that was really nice of her.

Heroes of Olympus.jpg

The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

I was meant to read this during the summer but what with work I didn’t have time to dedicate my time to these books. Because I really want to enjoy these and not hurry through them because Rick Riordan is another one of my favourite authors that is discussed in my family. My sisters read them when they were kids and basically grew up with them in the same way I grew up with Harry Potter. This summer though! I’m coming for you…

sanderson-mistborntrilogyuk4.jpg

Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

Me and my friends (ehm, Vic, ehm, Lara, the original poetry nerds) were going to start a bookclub. We all have very different tastes in books. Lara loves crime, Vic loves YA Fantasy, and I love Adult Fiction and High Fantasy. This was one of the books that we were going to read and it was the first random pick we made. So, my gullible ass went and bought the entire trilogy and it’s been on my fucking shelf since the start of our friendship almost two years ago… But, I will go on without them and finally start it!

gentlemanbastard.jpg

Gentleman Bastards by Scott Lynch

This is another series that makes my heart beat faster when I think about it. Don’t even get me started on how I started the first book and lost it… I think I might read this during the summer because that’s when I started it and I thought it was quite a good pick for my hammock reading.

Welcome to Deadland by Zachary Tyler Linville

This has such a cool premise and I can’t wait to finally get to it. It’s basically about a zombie apocalypse. I’ve been trying to get into Zombie lore because I adore that topic when they bring it up on my favourite podcast Mysterious Universe (which is rarely).

115533.jpg

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer

One of my favourite films. Still have not read the book even though it is one of my cousin’s favourite books… Hm, maybe I’ll swap her own copy of A Secret History by Donna Tartt that I stole with this one without her knowing. 😉

screen-shot-2013-07-24-at-13-37-10.png

Filth by Irvine Welsh

Another favourite film of film of mine. I know with all my heart that the book is way better but have just not had the time to pick it up. And when I went to the bookshop to pick it up they didn’t have it… #mess

18770398

Night Film by Marisha Pessl

This is another book that you’ve heard about everywhere without actually knowing what it’s about. All I know is that it’s about an indie film maker and that everything suddenly becomes chaotic and crazy. Sounds exactly like something I’d love to read during Halloween or around then…

20819685.jpg

The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell

I have been meaning to pick up ANYTHING by this author because everyone has been telling me his writing is amazing and gripping. This is also partially set in Iraq, from what I understand, as well as being sci-fi. Having Iraqi heritage, that really drew my in and I hope to see positive and accurate representation.

Wonder Woman – Warbring by Leigh Bardugo
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
You Don’t Know My Name by Kristen Orlando
The Fate Of The Tearling by Erika Johansen
Fire Boy by Sami Shah
